Last Sunday I sat in front of the television, along with the majority of the nation, and watched the debacle that was the England v Italy football match. All I can say is, that was 2 hours of my life I'll never get back. Meh!
Moving swiftly on and not being one to brood I have now switched my patriotic loyalties to Wimbledon and I'm hoping we do better in the tennis this year?!
During the football my snacks and beverage of choice were pizza, crisps, chocolate and diet cola (what can I say. It was a long match) Obviously, Wimbledon requires sustenance of a more sophisticated nature so out came the strawberries and creme fraiche and as I don't drink champagne (I know! Weird right?) it can only be my favourite earl grey tea, served without milk and sometimes a thin slice of lemon! Not an obvious combination, but trust me Earl Grey and more specifically the bergamot in it, go perfectly with the sweetness of strawberries, try it, it's incredibly refreshing and the aroma from the tea is amazing.
If you are also a fan of the UK's finest drink you can buy tea online and some lovely tea gifts too. (Check out the red spotty teapot! Cute!) If you're already an earl grey tea lover, you could try some of the other blends, variety being the spice of life and all that!
So as I sit here in all my sophistication(!) with my strawberries and tea I'm thinking, if we lose the tennis, I'll have to pin my hopes on the Olympics.
I'm sure we can win a gold in something, maybe ..... curling??!
Beauty products always give me a bit of a lift if it's been a rubbish week. They hold the promise of making you feel and look better and make a great treat!
Here are some recent purchases:
1.Garnier Simply Essentials Soothing 2 in 1 make up remover. £2.99I buy this cleanser time and time again. It removes stubborn mascara and every scrap of make up without drying or irritating my sensitive skin.
2. 3 & 7.Models Own Nail polish £5In my opinion one of the best nail products out there for the price. Amazing range of colours (of which I probably have far too many)! I bought two polishes and got a free nail art pen in black. 2. head kandi in Beach party (amazing neon orange) and 3. Pink fizz (just about the glitziest, glitter polish I've ever seen!)
4.Avon Anew clinical Eye lift pro Dual eye system. £10 Again this is a continual re purchase. The gel is for the top of the lid and the cream for under the eye. It's not sticky at all and really does 'tighten' my eye lids up before applying make up! Note: There's an offer on at the moment! For £10 you can buy the eye cream and get a free mascara and sunglasses!
5. Avon true colour blush in earthen rose. £6 This is a nice everyday neutral, brown. Possibly a little on the dark side for me but with a tan it will be perfect. Good for contouring.
6. Max Factor colour adapt foundation 70 Natural. £9.99Normally I only use Mac Studio Sculpt foundation (nw20-25) but it's running a bit low so I grabbed this old favourite I used to use years ago. The formula isn't much different to studio sculpt in a way, a sort of gel like consistency (!) Note: Boots offer on Max Factor. Spend £15 and get a free gift!
7. Maybelline Dream fresh BB cream in Light. £7.99I love BB creams for when I don't want to wear foundation and thought I'd try this. Sadly I'm not keen on it. It just doesn't seem to blend away the flaws very well! I much prefer the Garnier BB cream.
A bit of a departure from my usual posts but I like to share (!) I also love reading posts like this. (Yes I'm nosey and like to see what you're buying) Leave a link in the comments if you've got similar posts, please.
Well, it's been a while! Life is busy at the moment and I haven't had time to dedicate to my blog or much time to read/comment on my favourite blogs either. I've missed it greatly.
I'm having a much needed day off today but have unfortunately spent most of it doing the laundry and housework. Typical!
I decided that a "currently" post was a good way to get back into the swing of things. I can't remember where I first saw this idea, but I know it's often used in journalling and scrapbooking.
Currently ..... Listening ... to Norah Jones "Little broken hearts" This album is brilliant!
Eating ... Reese's peanut butter cups. Sweet, sickly and ever so yummy!
Drinking ... Tea! Of course. There's always a cup of tea somewhere on my desk and currently it's Whittard of Chelsea, Spice Imperial. Black tea with cinnamon, cloves, vanilla and orange peel.
Wearing ... Now, I could tell lies here and say I'm wearing some ultra cool outfit, accessorised beautifully with stunning panache(?!) But. I'm not. What I'm actually wearing is a pair of black leggings with a baggy, oversized grey t-shirt and fluffy stripy socks! I've not washed my hair for 3 days and it's sat in a disgruntled fashion on top of my head in a bad excuse for a trendy topknot!
(At least I'm honest, a fashion blogger I am not!)
Bridget Jones!
Feeling ... Happy to be writing a blog post!
Weather ... Don't get me started on the British weather! It's JUNE! 12 degrees celsius and cloudy. At some point it will probably rain because I have washing on the line. Grrrr.
Wanting ... More hours in the day.
Needing ...See above "wanting"
Thinking ... Too many things = sleepless nights! I'd really love to be able to switch off and relax more.
Enjoying ... Slapping things in my Smash book! Cutting and sticking is very therapeutic. I'll post some of my pages soon.
