Do you remember when.....

I recently came across the idea of a memory jar on Pinterest and decided I'd make one for the New Year. It's such a lovely but simple way of recording all of your memories, the idea being that on New Years Eve you pull the notes out of the jar and read them out! What a conversation starter they'd be! A memory jar is my new tradition starting with 2012!

The top two pictures are from Pinterest and the bottom one is of a jar, I bought from TKMaxx for £5. It looks quite small but in actual fact is at least 18 inches in height. I intend to collect a lot of memories!

I'm going to tie some ribbon around the neck of the jar and hang a luggage tag and some charms from the ribbon. I will also cut up squares of paper in various colours and textures and put them in a box along with pens/pencils next to the jar ready for anyone, including visitors, to add a memory of the day, the only rule being that the days date is written on the paper! I also think it will add variety to include any tickets or programmes or receipts with a note on them too.

What a sweet way to keep memories alive!

  1. I love this idea. We tried recently to set up a game of charades for the office party where we were going to act out funny things that had happened that year, and even though I know there were absolutely tons we couldn't remember any! So I love the idea of recording them and keeping them in this way, so lovely.

  2. What a beautiful idea! A bit like keeping a diary without the inane 'nothing much happened today' entries. I might give it a try too. TKMAXX is a great place to pick up nick nacks :D xxx
